Paying Cash Helps Local Businesses
Credit cards cost local business profits that can mean the difference between make or break.
I frequently eat at Miro’s Food Truck on the FIU south campus. The guy makes the most delicious pulled beef sandwiches and succulent grilled chicken I’ve tasted. I could go on and on about the food, but that’s not the point. The point is, I want Miro to stay in business so I can keep eating his tasty sandwiches. To help him, I try to pay cash as often as possible. Debit cards are only free for the user. For merchants like Miro, they can take as much as 20% of his revenue.
I want Miro to thrive and franchise and provide good food and good jobs. To help him do that, I need to make sure he doesn’t have to pay Visa or MasterCard because I hadn’t the foresight to bring cash.
